Beginner Investment Strategy Program

Starting from scratch? So did we. This program is built around real experiences—ours and those of hundreds of students who've moved from confused to confident. You'll work through actual investment scenarios and build skills that matter in Canadian markets.

Student learning investment strategies with real market data

What You'll Actually Learn

We've stripped out the jargon and kept what works. Each module builds on the previous one, so you're never lost. Most students tell us they wish they'd learned this stuff ten years ago.

Understanding Risk

Not the textbook version. We'll look at what risk means when it's your money, how to measure it honestly, and why your comfort level matters more than any formula.

Portfolio Basics

How to build something that makes sense for your situation. We'll talk about diversification without making it complicated, and you'll practice with real numbers.

Canadian Tax Considerations

TFSAs, RRSPs, and capital gains—explained like you're sitting across from someone who actually uses them. We'll work through examples until it clicks.

Market Research Methods

Where to find reliable information and how to evaluate it. You'll learn what to look for in a company and what warning signs mean trouble down the road.

Building Your Strategy

Time to put it together. You'll create an investment approach that fits your goals and timeline. No cookie-cutter templates—just guidance as you build something personal.

Ongoing Management

What happens after you invest? We cover rebalancing, when to adjust, and how to avoid panic decisions when markets get weird.

Fletcher Kinnaird, investment strategy instructor

Fletcher Kinnaird

Lead Instructor

Spent fifteen years managing portfolios before deciding he'd rather teach people to manage their own. His approach is straightforward—no unnecessary complexity, just what actually works.

Vesna Thériault, tax strategy specialist

Vesna Thériault

Tax Strategy Specialist

Makes Canadian tax law understandable, which is harder than it sounds. She'll walk you through tax-advantaged accounts and show you how to keep more of what you earn.

Galina Bedell, market analysis instructor

Galina Bedell

Market Analysis Instructor

Worked as an equity analyst for eight years before joining us. She teaches you how to read financial statements without falling asleep, and how to spot red flags before they become problems.

Upcoming Cohorts

We run small groups—max 18 students—so everyone gets attention. Classes meet twice weekly in the evenings, and there's always someone available to answer questions between sessions.

Summer 2026 Cohort

Starts: June 8, 2026 12 weeks

Evening sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7-9 PM EST. Good for people with full-time jobs who want to learn without disrupting their schedule.

Fall 2026 Cohort

Starts: September 14, 2026 12 weeks

Same evening format as summer. We typically fill this one early since people want to get their finances sorted before year-end.

Winter 2027 Cohort

Starts: January 12, 2027 12 weeks

Perfect timing if you're setting financial goals for the new year. We'll help you create a strategy you can actually stick with.

What Students Say They Actually Gained

We check in with graduates six months after they finish. Here's what they tell us changed for them. Not guarantees—just patterns we've seen across different people with different situations.

Confidence With Decisions

Most students say they stop second-guessing themselves constantly. They've got a framework for making choices and can explain their reasoning.

  • Can evaluate investment opportunities independently
  • Know when to ask for help and what questions to ask
  • Understand their risk tolerance practically

Practical Skills

You'll leave with abilities you use right away—not theoretical knowledge that sits unused. These are tools for managing real money.

  • Build and maintain a diversified portfolio
  • Research companies and assess financial health
  • Navigate tax-advantaged accounts effectively

Realistic Expectations

Students appreciate learning what's possible versus what's marketing hype. Understanding limits helps you avoid expensive mistakes.

  • Set achievable financial goals
  • Recognize unrealistic promises and schemes
  • Plan for long-term growth patiently

Ongoing Community

The cohort model means you build relationships. Many graduates stay in touch, share experiences, and help each other navigate new situations.

  • Access to alumni discussion group
  • Quarterly update sessions on market changes
  • Network of people at similar stages
